4k movies reviews
Scientific and technological progress put the idea of the omnipotence of science in the minds of people at the beginning of the 20th century. So many different inventions, science has become a new magic, and all that remained was to try to keep up with the giant steps of the electrical machine industry. Why, mankind of those years believed that in the 21st century there will already be cities under water, life on Mars and the Philosopher's Stone. But no, this whole illusion was destroyed by the Great Depression. Now the NTP was able not to facilitate and improve the lives of ordinary citizens, but to create unemployment, hunger and new monsters.

Jack Griffin was not the first madman of genius to torment the viewer's imagination. For 2 years, Doctor Victor Frankenstein literally thundered on him on the screens, forever creating this image of a scientist, among tubes, flasks and chemical reagents. In the same year, Dr. Jekyll appeared on the screens with his theory of an evil double. So the viewer had already swallowed the bait and demanded more. Therefore, the adaptation of the novel by H.G. Wells was among the priorities of Universal Studios and, in person, Karl Lemli Jr., behind each of the most iconic films in the studio's classic horror series.

And it should be noted that the new monster has become a worthy counterpart to Dracula, Frankenstein and the Mummy. Of course, all these films have a number of similar qualities, for which many criticized them in the 20s ... -th, namely, the concentration of the plot around one monster, the presence of a love line in each film and 2-3 sequels with brides and houses. However, this does not mean at all about their uniformity and boringness. Just take a look at the countless number of now cloned romantic comedies and youth horror films that are coming out now. This will be monomass, with an even larger bunch of movie stamps. And at the same time, each film was created from a highly artistic side, no more than 4-5 of them were released in the early 30s, and each of them was an expected event. And these films deserve attention as part of the film history, which would have been completely different without them, like the great-grandfathers of Jason and Freddy Krueger. So each of the films in the classic 1930s horror series is educationally recommended. In addition, many of them have excellent literary sources that have become pioneers in the genres of fantasy, horror and sky-fay.

Now we are not talking about scaring someone with a black and white film. At the moment, even children seeing the body in the movies will say something like: "Fi, how boring, again a corpse." For 80 years, our perception of death in cinema has become rough and almost impossible to get to. But at the beginning of the last century, one idea of an invisible maniac could greatly agitate the public consciousness. Therefore, the commercial success of The Invisible Man was a foregone conclusion. The story of a talented scientist, who by his own discovery turned himself into an invisible monster, killing, robbing and derailing trains, turned out to be unusually successful for the cinema. By the way, this is one of the first typical movie lovers!

It was only a matter of who to entrust the creation of this film. James Weil, thanks to "Frankenstein" became Tod Browning's main competitor in the production of horror. And in this film, he once again confirmed his high directorial skills and one more step approached the title of a legend. Together with the leading actor Claude Raines, who did an incredible job of creating a frightening image without facial expressions and gestures, they breathed life into the invisible man. And at the same time, they created one of those iconic black and white films that is worth admiring and just giving him the opportunity to tell his story, brightened up with a thick layer of dust.
