Film Description
She calls herself Bobby, a tall, blond woman with an insatiable desire to kill. According to Dr. Elliott's records, Bobbie was his patient, but she switched to another doctor. The sharp razor that serves as Bobby's murder weapon was stolen from Dr. Elliott's luxurious office in the upscale New York City neighborhood where he runs a successful psychiatric practice.

Another of Bobby's victims is Kate, another of Dr. Elliott's patients who suffered from erotic fantasies so vivid that she herself could not separate them from reality. Prostitute Liz accidentally witnesses the crime, immediately becoming both a target of harassment for the killer and a suspect for the police.

4k movies reviews
'Dressed to Kill' is probably one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I liked absolutely everything about it.

Brian de Palma - you're good! Very well learned Hitchcockian tricks and played them well. 'Dressed to Kill' is one of those films which may or may not like, but cannot leave you indifferent, I think. As for the plot:

At the beginning of the film, a woman, Kate (Angie Dickinson), goes to see her psychologist (Michael Caine) after which she goes to a museum and meets a strange young man there. After sleeping with him in his apartment, Kate learns that her lover has an STD and then runs away... De Palma runs the risk of turning an interestingly started psychological film into a trite story about a 'middle-aged woman,' but no... Brian chooses a very different path... Oh, what a mess you made of Brian...

Anyway, the story of a sexually frustrated lady flows seamlessly into a tense thriller full of madness and suspense. Nancy Allen will play a prostitute, Dressed to Kill (the name of the movie and the subject of the kill) will appear in the frame more and more times, the tension will increase for every square meter of film. I had a hell of a lot of fun watching it all, and in some places I had the most genuine catharsis. Much of this is a credit to the actors, who did an excellent job of revealing the characters of their characters. In addition to Dickinson and Allen in the leading female roles, you can't help but notice Keith Gordon, Dennis Frantz and some other wonderful performers. The camerawork here is top notch - the scene in the museum when Kate is looking for the man with the glove and some others is well done. In particular, the episode with the elevator - it made me chafe unpleasantly myself...

We have talked about the pluses, now let's talk about the minuses. There aren't many of them, but still they are there. First, the last few minutes - I don't understand why De Palma took them out of context... Second, there are too many references to Hitchcock - you could have made the ending even more unpredictable, created some stunning final "twist".

I don't have any complaints on the whole, though. The movie was absolutely worth the time it took to watch it. I recommend it to all fans of quality thrillers.
