Film Description
The story of a 16-year-old tomboy girl named Sibi, whose mother is a prostitute and whose father is serving 5 years in prison for driving a truck into a school bus. Sibi listens to punk, smokes pot, and occasionally attends school. However, things get complicated when her alcoholic father is released "with a clear conscience."

In 1969, debutant director Dennis Hopper became an overnight idol and icon for his generation with Easy Rider. However, in 1971, he was thrown off this Olympus, after the catastrophic failure of 'The Last Picture'. The next nine years Hopper spent in an alcoholic and drug intoxication, while starring in all sorts of thrash. By the end of the decade sobered up and made a new film Thunder from Heaven - which even earned him a nomination for the Palme d'Or at Cannes. And I have to say - completely deserved.
I am sure, if a film with the same script shot in Russia (which, by the way, can be perfectly adapted) - it will be instantly labeled as 'black". Meanwhile, the story is absolutely vital, and quite universal - there are millions of dysfunctional families around the world. Granted, the ending may seem a little too exaggerated, but I think that everything has a logical conclusion.
The film was beautifully filmed and it was interesting throughout the whole movie. The characters, even though they are the dregs of society, still evoke some sympathy. Like any good drama there are no unequivocally good or bad characters, all are lively people, with their own pluses and minuses.
The actors are all good, especially Hopper himself (who clearly put a lot of personality into the image of his alcoholic father).
Separately, I'd like to mention the excellent soundtrack.
