Cute Christmas melody. The guy, in whose soul Elvis still lives, is looking for the one who would appreciate all the parts of "Street Fighter" with him and share his so far dull existence. He is looking for true love. He looks for her in bars, meeting girls and telling them his dreams, thoughts, ideas, naively believing that they are interested in it, as if he sees in every princess or angel. Right - so touching. Instead, he comes across girls of easy virtue, who have it, this very behavior, is written on the face. But this does not bother him at all. He is still looking for her. And he will find it. At the cinema.

She fell on him like snow on his head. Rather, like a bucket of popcorn in the middle of the darkness of the cinema. She laughed, practiced techniques from the film. She listened to his monologues about Elvis and agreed to stay with him overnight. And then she cried in the cold under the falling snowflakes, because she is not like that, she is not at all the call girl ordered for him by the boss as a birthday present, because she also wants to love, because she fell in love.

A curtain. The first action, purely romantic, is over. During this time, you will have time to feel sympathy for the main characters, learn their names - Clarence and Alabama, as well as immerse yourself in the now already such a distant atmosphere of the early 90s. Now get ready for more than an hour and a half of crazy action, in which drama, crime and rather dark humor will be mixed and whipped into an absolutely gorgeous cocktail in the best traditions of films of the time. I confess that I do not like such stories, in which someone accidentally (or on purpose) stole a suitcase with a forbidden potion from someone, which leads to the involvement of the "bad", "good" and "neutral" (the police) in the story, however this movie is an exception to the rule. I don't really like and understand Tarantino's films, but the fact that he put his mighty hand to the script I noticed right away, and this time I liked it.

With the film's director, Tony Scott, my relationship is even more complicated. At one time I fell in love with his old painting "Hunger", but all his subsequent work was clearly not created for me ("Enemy State", Deja Vu "and other delights). However, this time he managed to create such a film that you want to watch once a year at least, because it contains elements of different genres in ideal proportions, the film looks in one breath, it captivates, makes you forget, sometimes intrigues, sometimes makes you laugh, sometimes - touches the quick. He is deprived of any moralizing, boringness. He is simple and at the same time partly brilliant in his simplicity. The perfect entertainment movie.

Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette turned out to be a wonderful, slightly crazy couple. It is often mentioned that they were a kind of cinematic prototypes of the characters of "Natural Born Killers", or rather that both stories seem to be part of one big scenario, but Alabama and Clarence are more romantics and, in fact, less maniacs and adventurers, which is closer to me personally. ... Accordingly, I value and love True Love much more than Stone's film.

However, the story could not be based only on the game of the main couple. Look who we have here "on the backing", and you will understand everything at once. I would like to highlight four characters. The unsurpassed Gary Oldman once again shines with his talent for portraying the world's most notorious scoundrels. Drexl is a cute drug pimp with dreadlocks. Or just crazy. His screen time is reduced to a matter of minutes - but what minutes it is! He is disgusting, moreover, he is genius in his disgust. You will love it! True, before this happens, he will be killed, so I'm afraid you will not have time to enjoy it.

The brilliant Christopher Walken. Here he is - the new head of the Sicilian mafia. Ruthless, cold-blooded, to some extent beautiful - a kind of standard of behavior. I can relish his conversation with Clarence's father, Denis Hopper. The expressions on the faces of both characters, the hidden, or rather not entirely disguised irony - in a word, the dialogues in the film are very well written.

Let me say a few words about the most inconspicuous and apathetic character in the film, performed by Brad Pitt. If I notice that this is his best role - I'm afraid it will sound fake, but the way he coped with it, or rather, how he looked in it, deserves respect and your smiles. The role from the series "I am a piece of furniture" is played all the time by a slightly deranged, stoned guy who does nothing, monotonously and reluctantly answering questions. Every time I remember his expression and smile.

We must pay tribute to the soundtrack of the film, always in place, competently written and selected by a whole group of composers including my beloved Hans Zimmer. Where necessary, it conveys dynamics, where necessary - drama. It is thanks to him that the action seems so intense.

"True Romance". It's funny, but some people confuse it with "Love Real". With all due respect to the second picture, I personally prefer this old Tony Scott film. Even in the image of love. If you like, "True Romance" is also a kind of Christmas fairy tale. This is a story that miracles sometimes happen, that everything can be achieved if there are people around who are ready for anything for you. This is a story about love in action, devoid of sugary sweetness and feigned romance. This is a story with chases, fights, shootings, self-sacrifice, a story about a dream, about the life of ordinary people, put by chance in a difficult situation. This is the story of True Love.
