4k movies reviews
I liked the movie. Very much so. I'll tell you why...

Because the director made a good western. And I love westerns. And I especially love it when the overpaid power brokers, bankers, landowners and other bourgeois scum die at the end. Because it's the right thing to do...

... I don't like the current president. And I wasn't fond of the past either. (Sgt. Bob Lee Swagger)
- But the idea of an election is to my liking, . living in a free country. Are we really going to let thugs come to power. (Colonel Isaac Johnson)
- We have, and more than once.
- You took an oath, I believe, at one time or another... to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic...

Yes, the law is like a stick. And yes, the west is wild. But how is this action movie different from all the previous ones? I will say this. Before Antoine Fuqua (the director) in westerns and all kinds of action movies, however, the state system was not seriously rotten. There was always an element of doubt. After all, there was always a vilified president, or there was a good senator who was against lawlessness and who fought alongside the main character. The bad guys in these stories were almost always men with names that couldn't be pronounced in various shades of skin and with various distant accents... and yes, they almost always had Kalashnikovs. Or there was only one bad guy, some kind of "Dr. Evil"...

In this story, however, the bad guys are everyone who is not with the little U.S. Marine Sergeant Bob Lee Swagger. His enemies sit in every government office and office in the United States. The evil uncles are not hiding in mansions, they are making their insidious plans under the shadow of government buildings of historical significance. The CIA, the AMB, the Pentagon, the FBI, and even the Government, along with all the parliamentary boards, are all infected with evil. I don't think even detective Stephen Panter, who wrote the prototype of our hero, thought of such a magnitude of confrontation.

Welcome to Tennessee-the state of all things shooting.

Truly anarchy is the mother of order. And truly it's time to change the system... Although an action movie is never serious. And westerns rarely end in a hippie ending. Still, for many of us, this spectacle has awakened in us the good old thought of the triumph of good over evil. A thought that has plagued man since the day he was created. A thought, the realization of which is equivalent to the creation of a perpetual motion machine, and which has long tormented the minds and boggled the minds of the inhabitants of a sinful earth. Interestingly, the film touches on the most ambiguous side of this thought. The idea of good and evil at the level of the state.

It is ambiguous because it almost always goes side by side with a sense of patriotism. It is the kind of feeling that is good in essence, but which for some reason is almost always taken advantage of by unkind people. And then this feeling is called sour, I mean, when they sour their noses. So, for many, it will be a simple revelation to see the solution to this very ambiguity that the director has proposed... The director is saying: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. It would seem a simple solution. I do not understand why everyone has been raving about the revelation of Jesus, who is the Christ, for two millennia...

Patriotism is the religion of the rabid... Patriotism is inherently aggressive, and patriots, as a rule, are evil people. (Oscar Wilde)

Charity and patriotism are the main qualities of an American who needs to sell anything. (Henry Louis Mencken)

Patriotism is the weapon of rabid politicians. (Vadim Mozgovoy)

It's silly to argue about the subject matter. And it's even more stupid to argue about realism. Although the plot is not a comic book plot, but a detective one, the flaws are still visible to the untrained eye. Some may find the hurrah-patriotic monologues silly. Somebody was amused by the mountains of corpses and the main hero on the background of the exploded tank and the burning helicopter. Somebody was annoyed by two (!) helicopters shot down in one film. And some just can't help but get a little snarky, picking on the details. And all this has a basis for criticism. But with all that, we should not ignore the good parts of the film. And that is, first of all, Mark Wahlberg, who convincingly handled the role of the little big sergeant, the killer and just plain smart guy.

Now, in the minds of many of us, Bob Lee Swagger and his image has really supplanted the now almost canonized Jason Bourne (Matt Damon). Nor should we forget the dynamism of the plot. Still admit that you weren't bored watching our shooter dashingly avenge his dog, with his revenge tool even sold in the hardware store. The action is very dynamic, and most importantly realistic. In this case, the meaning of the word realistic you will realize and understand, if you remember how to create special effects in the movie industry lately. So this realism is also nice.

We were also pleased with the occasional interesting characters that appear from time to time. There's the raw funny FBI Academy graduate Nick Mamfis, trying to make jokes, but for some reason no one laughs. And even a provincial retired sharpshooter with a track record who explains the concept of a double standard in one sentence.

Of course, there are a lot of inconsistencies in Shooter, and there are a lot of clichés and clichés in it. It's just that the beauty of the film is that you can and should turn a blind eye to it.
