4k movies reviews
The most soulful horror movie in the history of cinema. Every time I take a videotape off the shelf, I smile as if meeting an old friend. I can watch Scream endlessly, and it never gets boring.

Of course, this is not an ordinary slasher. Maestro Craven, a man with a subtle sense of humor, throughout the film sneers at other horror films, without slipping into a parody. If you are a connoisseur of horror films, then, of course, you will understand what this is about.

But even if you are not familiar with such masterpieces as 'Halloween', 'Friday the 13th' and 'The Exorcist', you will still get guaranteed pleasure from the film. After all, 'The Scream' is completely self-sufficient, and ridiculing the clichés in it is not the main thing.

And most importantly - a new reading of a long-known plot about a maniac killer, director's findings (a telephone conversation at the beginning of the film is lovely as good) and a brilliant play of actors - Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. Well, how can you imagine other actors as Sydney, Gail and Dewey? Jamie Kennedy and Matthew Lillard look no less worthy, especially in the last scenes.

And yet, the film seems surprisingly cohesive. There is nothing superfluous in it, all the characters and scenes are in their place, and for these merits, 'Scream' is rightfully considered the best horror movie of the 90s.
