4k movies reviews
I have to confess right away that before watching this movie I had no idea who Gene Kelly was, almost no idea what an American musical was, and I had no interest in movies like this at all. But it was a gloomy winter day, I was sad and decided to do a revision on my DVD shelf. Pulled out this film, decided - was not, will watch.

Started watching. A black-eyed handsome man with a mind-blowing smile and a silent blonde reminisces about his path to Hollywood's Olympus. He sang, danced, played the violin, and was a stuntman. Now he is the silent film star Don Lockwood, and the blonde is his partner Leena Lamott. Together they star in unpretentious melodramas, they are loved by audiences and in general, life is good. But out of the blue, a sound comes into the movie. To fit in with the times, the producer decides to voice Don and Lina's last film. One problem - the girl squeaks rather than speaks. But Don has a clever friend, Cosmo, who offers to voice Leena in the voice of the young and talented actress Kathy Seldon. And all would be well, but Lina finds out about it. And also that Don is in love with Cathy.

So, after watching about 15 minutes, I realized what a treasure I had gotten my hands on! First of all, Gene Kelly. That he's handsome, I've already written. But for all his abnormal beauty and charm, you can see how talented he is. In fact, all of the actors are just as good as they look. Donald O'Connor fit the role of the ironic and savvy best friend perfectly. Debbie Reynolds is utterly charming, and you immediately understand why Don couldn't forget her. I understand Mr. Lockwood very well: a girl like that makes the rain seem warm, and you jump through puddles as if you were a child.

Absolutely all the song and dance numbers in the movie are sincere, funny and unforgettable. And in general, everything is so fine with the humor in the movie that you want to laugh even in the pauses between the jokes. Here are the scenes that just blew you away:

Don and Katie's meeting. How she's like him! I wish I could blow guys away like that!

Lina and the microphone. Honestly, really felt bad for the girl, but laughed like crazy.

"Dancing Knight" premiere.
-What's she doing?
-To play with pearls.
(Apparently the pearls were very large)

Don Lockwood in the rain. No comment, I want the same.

But the most killer scene in the movie was done by our best friends Don and Cosmo. When I heard HOW they translated the accents into Russian, I had to pause the movie and have a good laugh. And for a long time afterwards I kept seeing Gene Kelly saying "Marina was coming from the vegetable garden". And how they tap-danced!

Well, as things began to move toward the end (with a dancing gait, of course), I finally realized what a real Hollywood finale. This is a declaration of love, and tears of joy, and shining eyes - yes, that's exactly how the films should end! And my soul immediately becomes so warm and happy that I want to review the film again to feel this atmosphere of unrestrained happiness again!
