Film Description
Twelve colony planets wage a millennia-long war against a robot-like race of Cylons bent on exterminating humanity. Suddenly, the Cylons, through the mediation of Count Baltar, offer a truce. Only Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galactica suspects that the Cylons have prepared a trap. And so it turns out to be. The Colonial Fleet, along with the President, is killed, and the population of the planets is also massacred. "Galactica takes the survivors aboard and orders all civilian ships to follow her. The humans hope to find the legendary Thirteenth Colony, located on the planet Earth, whose coordinates were lost long ago. They are constantly pursued by the Cylons, aided by the traitor Baltar....

Another parasite on the glory of Star Wars. George Lucas even sued them. Could've been the Star Trek guys, though.

It started out all right. Earthlings are trying on some alien race that we've been at war with for a long time. But it's a trap, we're attacked by alien ships. The Earth fleet is defeated, some of the planets destroyed. Battlestar Galactica managed to escape and now it sails through space in search of Earth-like planets.

Perhaps you know that there is such a series. Because the reboot of this movie as a TV series was in the '00s. Well then in 1978 Universal Studios conceived a series that would combine Star Trek and Star Wars and launched it in the series, but it quickly became clear that it was too expensive. So from the first three series decided to slap together a movie that would kill two birds with one stone - to advertise the series and at the box office to raise money for further filming. And it came out miserable.

First of all, the movie clearly shows that it is three series, and poorly related to each other. Secondly, all the hallmarks of the series for teenagers - not funny jokes, flat characters, little logic, a lot of shooting and sometimes very cheaply made scenes, clearly filmed in the studio and with improvised materials. This was cute in Star Trek, given the timing of the series, but it feels too dated for a late 70s movie.
