Film Description
One day, a simple construction worker Nade, who is not very lucky in life, finds unusual sunglasses. Having put them on, he gets the opportunity to see the world as it is.

Reality is scary! It turns out that the government and the media bombard people with hidden messages that affect the subconscious: "Sleep!", "Don't let your imagination run wild", "Obey the authorities."

Even worse, Neida saw the true guise of many politicians and important members of society! They are not people at all, but ugly and evil aliens from the planet Andromeda. Their mission on Earth is to conduct a massive campaign to subjugate earthlings to their will and keep people in the dark ...

Neida must find people who, like him, know about the true state of affairs (who else could have made these wonderful glasses?), And join their resistance movement to fight!

4k movies reviews
For some reason, our distributors called this wonderful picture, called 'They Live', 'Aliens Among Us'. Of course, both of them reflect the idea of the film, but the real title touches it deeper, especially since this is a quote - on the wall in the church there is an inscription 'They live, we sleep'.

So, the plot of the film is simple as always - one very tough guy gets involved in an incomprehensible story: in the church, next to the construction site where he got a job, a secret group lives, which the police raid. After these events, our hero enters the building and finds a batch of glasses. At this moment, it turns out that the world is not what we are used to seeing ...

At first glance, the film seems to be with too vivid irony on modern life, but everything is not so simple. In fact, the world represented by John Carpenter is the same with and without glasses, the only difference is how we imagine it. Our hero was rolling along the road of injustice and indifference, and, by a happy coincidence, he comes across wonderful glasses on his way, which open his eyes. He, intoxicated by their effect, goes to deal with alien muzzles, but he needs allies, because he alone will not be able to cope with them. Here Frank comes into play - his colleague at the construction site, who suffers from an obvious stubbornness and fear of change, it becomes extremely difficult to make him just try on glasses. Further, the film is gaining momentum more and more, in order to result in a stunningly cool ending at the end, which will not leave you without a grin on your face.

John Carpenter is one of my favorite directors, he knows how to combine completely different genres in his works, filling it all with his own unique style. This film, I think, best of all gives an idea of how to shoot strong and exciting pictures - there is nothing superfluous here, the author does not overdo it anywhere. As always, the camera work is at its best, which does a lot in this film. I would like to pay special attention to fights and shootings - they just breathe energy and drive, that you want to get up and join the heroes, and the last 20 minutes, so in general, is the standard of an action movie and a festival of a cinematographer.

For which I love Carpenter's work, for the fact that he always narrates unobtrusively and easily - not once during the film did I get the feeling that I was being pressured by pathos or an idea, but always gives an aftertaste that leaves no one indifferent.
