Film Description
Music legend Prince and his band perform 13 numbers, most of them from his double album, "Sign 'o' the Times." This is high-energy stuff: neon signs flash above the stage, suggesting the honky-tonk district of a big city, and between numbers there are vignettes of street life. Sheila E., Boni Boyer and Cat provide rhythmic, vocal and physical pyrotechnics while Sheena Easton appears in a film within a film, her rock video "U Got the Look." In constant motion, never far from center stage, is Prince, Minnesota's charismatic virtuoso, giving the performance of a lifetime.

4k movies reviews
I cannot say that I am a big fan of Prince, but I think that one cannot ignore his work and influence on world music. And if his major film works, such as 'Purple Rain' and 'Under a Cherry Moon' can evoke polar feelings (despite the fact that the ballad 'Purple Rain' is Prince's signature song, and the film itself is an Oscar winner for best recording of music), then after 'Sign' ☮ 'the Times' there is absolutely no doubt about Prince's artistry.

This is a truly expressive concert film, at the same time unlike other concert films. There are a huge number of purely cinematic finds - cut transitions, camera techniques, hitting, several game inserts, shooting from different angles ... At one point the camera starts to rotate in time with the drumming of Prince's constant companion in the 80s - Sheila AND.

This film is the music itself, which has taken on a visual form. In one scene, Prince himself sits down at the percussion instrument, and Sheila sings a few verses. It all looks very dynamic, beautiful and sexy (oh, those nipples of Sheila). Prince's music in Sign "☮" the Times is pop and rock, with jazz moments with saxophone playing. This is emotion and love! To this kind of music, you don't want to have sex, but to make love.

What the performer himself does on stage is amazing: he alternates choreographic studies with live singing. Everything turns out at the same high level. I am impressed by this man, he did not stick out cheap machismo, but was himself, did not seek to please. And at the same time I liked it. He carried a light inside him and infected the public with it. The film contains compositions from the artist's album of the same name (at least, most of them).
