I remember being introduced to this movie by my dad when I was a kid. Now I am very grateful to him for that. I don't remember the movie very well, but some of my impressions remain.
I was a child, stupid and unintelligent, and children's impressions are the most true, so you can or can not criticize, but you are criticizing a child!
I really enjoyed the movie, and especially the story of the friendship between the knight and the dragon. It was just amazing that a friendship between a dragon and a human could be as equals. It would seem that this could only be in fairy tales for children, but no...and the screen carried it over.
This work was so imprinted in my soul, that later at night I would get up and look at the stars, remembering the legend of the Dragon constellation. Like, only the very best can get into that constellation, I cried all the time when he told me. But now I cry more at the end. Eh, that scene and that movie are still connected to my childhood, and even though I don't remember much about it, the most important thing is that I remember it EVERYTHING and that a child appreciated it.
