4k movies reviews
From the start, 'I spit on your graves' was doomed to mixed reviews. Not only is this a remake of an old film, which has its own fans, but the picture itself is filled with scenes of violence and bullying of all sorts, which seemed to critics to be an overkill. The film is definitely not for impressionable viewers, but if a number of overly explicit moments do not scare you away, then the film will definitely be able to open up for you from the other side.

'I Spit On Your Graves' begins as an ordinary horror: a lonely girl arrives at a large house in a run-down village to work on a book alone. Then she begins to hear various sounds and rustles. A couple of moments and the film turns into the most brutal slasher. The scenes of rape are shown in the most repulsive, that is, believable, since I do not think that a person with a healthy psyche can do such a thing. More fear is the very despair of the girl, who, trying to escape, loses hope one after another. No matter how hard she tries to save herself, this is more likely to become a reason for laughter among the maniacs, rather than help to escape. Having finally lost faith in salvation, the heroine accepts her fate and jumps into the river. Moreover, she does it as epic as possible, spreading her arms to the sides, as if, imitating Christ, embodies the image of all women who suffered from rapists, as an image of a martyr. I don't know whether the director wanted to notice, the similarity with the Bible can be found anywhere, but one way or another the detail is interesting.

Then the final part of the film starts, where the maniac and the victim literally switch places. "Rebirth" of the heroine after falling into the river, it seems to me, can be perceived metaphorically, because otherwise the fact that the girl not only survived, but also learned how to make deadly devices for torture cannot but raise questions. Although such skills have long become the stamp of all slashers, I would like to see the change in the character of the heroine in more detail. Nevertheless, the twist with a change of sides is also interesting because in this way we not only perceive the maniac's motives much better, but also do not forget to follow the victims who feel the approach of the threat. The last shots of the film with the smiling protagonist also cause anxiety, as if demonstrating that she enjoyed the process of revenge. Even a disabled guy was injured, who did not seem to control everything that was done. Thus, responding with violence to violence, the heroine herself becomes similar to her offenders and by her example demonstrates the extent to which lynching can be considered fair from the point of view of ethics. Only the viewer himself can make a verdict here.

The villagers also, besides being just rapists, have their own traits that add naturalness to their heroes. The sheriff, judging by the fact that his wife is pregnant, clearly lacks in intimate life, and the title only adds to him a sense of impunity. And the guys from the gas station who sincerely hate all the inhabitants of the city for their bombast and arrogance. And then, you see, a young city woman arrives at her beautiful mansion, in her beautiful car, she still dares to scoff at them. Of course, such an image of a successful American woman cannot help but an eyesore to ordinary guys from the village.

In conclusion, we can say that, although there are roughnesses in the film, "I spit on your graves" is a strong representative of its genre with its own philosophy. After watching, you will definitely not be left without emotions!
