At a convention of parapsychologists, a female psychic demonstrates her abilities: she guesses names, looks into the pockets of participants... and suddenly plunges into a terrible vision. Convulsions, cries of death, a terrifying image of murder in a villa, and an ominous children's song are harbingers of an inevitable tragedy. That same night, she is brutally murdered by a mysterious man in a cloak with a huge axe the only witness is a jazz pianist.
