Andy, the boy Chucky tried to possess in the first episode, ends up in foster care (the boy's birth mother has been declared mentally ill). He still has nightmares about Chucky.

Meanwhile, a firm producing red-haired toy dolls, in order to avoid a bad reputation (due to the events that took place in the original film), restores the Chucky doll from its "remains" found at the "scene". So the firm tries to prove that the doll has no real danger, but it turns out to be the opposite...

Now Andy is again faced with a small, but very dangerous, plastic monster who still intends to possess the boy's body...

Although my parents were always the most loving parents in the world, they were excessively democratic in some areas. Of course, when I was a spunk in pink patent leather shoes and with bows on my head, I was strictly forbidden to cross the street in the wrong places, to talk to strangers and play on construction sites and rails-that is, all necessary measures were taken in regard to the hostile environment-but their attitude was somewhat permissive in terms of the time spent by their favorite child in the family walls. Namely, none of them saw any danger for the little girl in the books she was reading and the movies she was watching. Perhaps it was the atmosphere of black humor that always reigned in our family that played a decisive role here. Of course, I thank heaven that my parents are such jokesters, but I also owe it to them that I was very traumatized when I was seven years old.

Here you can not ignore the fact that my childhood was in the early nineties, and it took place in Riga, which was already far ahead of Russia in terms of bourgeoisie. We lived in the center of the Latvian capital, surrounded by movie theaters and video stores, so all American films were extremely accessible, and we loved movies and always watched them together, regardless of the genre. So, being a first grader, I had already learned all the parts of "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Hellraisers", "The Fly", "Leprechaun", etc., and they were very easy for me, because they were always accompanied by the snide comments of my mom and dad. This went on until that momentous evening, when a red-haired puppet boy named Chucky burst into my inner world with a knife in his hands.

Every child, and man in general, has an Achilles heel. He can quite sincerely prove to his surroundings that he is not afraid of the bloodiest horror movies - and it will be true! - until he stumbles upon a single subject to which he is unarmed. For me, that theme turned out to be dolls. My childhood room has been overflowing with toys since I was born, and humanoid toys have always dominated among them. Again, because I lived in Latvia, my dolls were different from those in Russia: even back then, they sold very realistic rubber boys and girls as tall as three-year-olds, which in certain lighting and silence could seem quite sinister. Well, I had about twenty such dolls, no less. My mother, who regularly added to this collection out of love, saw no harm in it. Besides, I was systematically put to bed at night with very unfriendly records like "Midget Nose," which, when fully immersed in the plot, could seem disturbing even to adults.

That night we had guests. A small group of parental friends were sitting around the table, joking and chatting. In the background was a movie on the commercial channel. That's what caught my attention. I sat down almost right in front of the TV set and began to absorb the story with rapt attention. I would never forget the first shot - a half-dark nursery, a frightened dark-haired boy lying on his bed, and a horrible talking doll hovering over him. I remember Aunt Sasha whispering to my mother, "This is a scary movie. Isn't Anyutik going to be scared?" Mom smiled: "Anyutik has iron nerves." Meanwhile, I finished watching "Children's Games 2." Hearing my parents' laughter behind me, I felt no fear. He came later.

The front door slammed behind the guests, Dad went to see them off, and in the silence of the apartment my mother and I were left alone. It was late, and I had to go to put on my evening makeup, and my heart was suddenly heavy, so I looked out into the darkness of the hallway, where the door to the bathroom was at the very end. Not wanting to admit my fears, I gulped and took my first timid step into the darkness. And then from behind me came my mother's quiet, sweet and gentle voice: "Someone's waiting for you in there. Black humor, ha! I screamed and threw myself into her arms. Mom was shocked, because I had never been afraid of anything before - I didn't even have the common childhood fear of the dark. And since it's not the dark that we're afraid of, it's what's hiding in the dark that's been hiding in the dark for me since that night, the cruel killer doll.

And still, ashamed of my weakness, I hid it from my parents, or rather, did everything to prove its absence! A week later we watched the first and third parts of "Children's Games" together, the Gordon Dolls, I wouldn't let any of the creepy dolls leave my room, and to top it off I literally demanded that my father buy me a book called The Devil's Dolls of Madame Mandilippe! And even though the table lamp made my nursery look like the set of a horror movie on the subject, with huge rubber babies staring at me and watching me with gleaming eyes, a couple of them sitting on the shelf above the bed, ready to pounce on me as soon as I went to bed! One day one of them fell on me in my sleep. I woke up from the impact, and when I opened my eyes, my gaze met the creepy eyes of the doll lying on top of me. I screamed and fought it fiercely, slamming it against the walls and kicking it. Then my parents finally realized that the child needed help. Everything turned out without a child psychiatrist, but my contact with toys of any kind was severely restricted. To this day, my mother knows the discomfort this subject causes me.

So when I recently asked her to watch "Dead Silence" and "Evil Pinocchio" with me, she stated unequivocally: "You don't have to prove yourself out of that phobia, everyone has their own personal enemy. I, for one, don't like mysticism on religious themes when the creepiest moments are accompanied by the deafening accompaniment of a church choir. There's no shame in that! You're afraid of puppets, so don't watch these movies. But I do watch them, I fight my enemy, who once entered my life with the scariest puppet character of my childhood, a redheaded puppet boy named Chucky.

For me, this is a special movie that would not have engendered such superstitious terror in me if it had not been truly quality filmed. I confidently trash all the sequels of "Children's Games" except for the original first and second parts, but even after almost twenty years I am ready to call these two the standards of the genre.
