Film Description
September 30, 1998. Claire Redfield returns to her native Raccoon City, where she ran away a few years ago as a child. Then, after the loss of her parents, she and her brother lived in a local orphanage sponsored by the city-forming corporation Umbrella, but now the company has moved, and the town is in decline. Claire notices that the locals seem to be infected, but her cop brother looks healthy. Suddenly, a siren is turned on in the city, and residents are advised not to leave their homes. This night will not be easy for everyone, and especially for Claire herself and a small police squad, including rookie cop Leon Kennedy.

4k movies reviews
I waited for the long-awaited restart of 'Resident Evil'. Why did you wait? It's simple, this is my favorite computer game, the game of my childhood, you can say. I played the first part of 'Resident Evil' right on New Year's Eve, this mansion fascinated me so much that I could not tear myself away.

Okay, let's get to the point. What did I not like about the first version of the film adaptation of the legendary zombie apocalypse? It's Alice, of course. No, Milla Jovovich as an actress is definitely good. But, the fact is that she was neither to the village nor to the city. Where are the brother and sister of the Redfields, where is Jill, where is Leon, where is Carlos Oliveira? They were, but were in secondary roles. As a fan of the first parts of the games, this infuriated me a little. It's just that the film should be about courage and courage, and not about superheroism. But, I still enjoyed watching all the parts of the first film franchise 'Resident Evil'.

In 'Resident Evil: Raccoon City' this has all been fixed. These characters come to the fore, although they are not directly revealed. It seems that we are talking about them, but perhaps many viewers will not worry about them, since the character of the characters is not fully disclosed. And I also didn't quite like why the creators of the whole film make Leon some kind of klutz. I understand that when all the characters have approximately the same character, then it will not be interesting to watch. But I just always perceived Leon differently. This question is primarily for the creators, the actor himself is excellent. In general, the entire cast is just at the level of the game. A kind of inconspicuous heroes who are in the foreground. My favorite was Kaya Scodelario, who played Claire Redfield.

Of course, the film has an excellent entourage, which will primarily appeal to fans of the game. The mansion and the police station are nostalgic. Plus, there are various 'Easter eggs' in the film, for which special thanks to the creators of this picture. The film itself looks dark, creepy, but not outright scary. That's the way it should be, I wouldn't want 'Resident Evil' to turn into a horror movie.

What did not like. Firstly, dynamism is squandered and there is understatement in the plot (there are also plot holes, and little about 'Umbrella'). In the previous version, it somehow did not catch the eye. There are also moments in which one could frankly get bored or not understand something. But everything is explained simply, in this film adaptation, the attention is focused on the heroes, and not on the corporation.

Secondly, the weak fullness of monsters. Zombies, a couple of dogs, a couple of birds and Lizun. And that's it. Are you seriously? Well, and of course the final boss, which I will not reveal. I didn't have enough scale, I didn't have enough weapons. This is probably my main dissatisfaction. I understand that in this, too, you need to know the line. But still, the first film version was larger and more original in this regard.

All in all, the movie is certainly not surprising, but it is quite entertaining. Fans of the game are definitely worth watching, at least just to understand whether it will live up to your expectations. I justified mine, but you always want more. Maybe I'll see it in the next parts. I can't give a low rating, because I'm a fan of the game (accordingly, I have my own view on it all), here I need to be understood and forgiven.
