All the President's Men 4K 1976
The political drama that later became known as the Watergate scandal began on June 17, 1972, when police arrested a group of unknown individuals who had broken into the Democratic Party headquarters on the sixth floor of the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. No one could have imagined that the obscure story of five spies breaking into the headquarters of a presidential candidate would turn into the most sensational political scandal of the decade.
Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, reporters for The Washington Post, obtained evidence that representatives of President Nixon's administration had organized a secret wiretap at the headquarters of their political opponents. The journalists broke the sensational news: the events of that night were linked to the White House. From that moment on, the world held its breath in anticipation. Step by step, the journalistic investigation progressed. The tireless Woodward and Bernstein found witnesses and uncovered a large check that had been deposited into the account of one of the burglars... They unraveled the case over the course of nearly two years. The most valuable testimony came from a secret witness, whose real name was not disclosed, but it was his testimony that ultimately led to the publication of scandalous material in the newspaper. Watergate brought down everyone — President Nixon, senators, diplomats — and finally shattered Americans' trust in their government.
The final shots show a television screen broadcasting the report of President Nixon's resignation and journalists Woodward and Bernstein sitting nearby, paying no attention to it, engrossed in working on new material.
