The film is based on a true story about an investigation conducted by journalists from The Boston Globe newspaper.
The city newspaper's editorial office received information from an anonymous source about alleged cases of pedophilia occurring in the local diocese. The anonymous source accuses church officials of abusing children, many of whom are orphans. However, there is no evidence, and leading journalists begin an investigation.
Not only ordinary priests but also the city's archbishop are implicated in the brewing scandal. Could it be that witnesses are so reluctant to come forward because they are simply afraid?
