Murder in the First 4K 1995
Henry Young (Kevin Bacon) ended up in the notorious Alcatraz prison for petty theft, but his escape attempts earned him extra time, and thanks to the sadistic Glenn (Gary Oldman), the deputy warden, he spent three years in a dreadful solitary confinement cell, and then killed a prisoner who betrayed him during his escape with a sharpened spoon. In 1941, he stood trial and faced the death penalty. A young, energetic lawyer, James Stamphill (Christian Slater), eagerly took on Young's defense and tried to instill hope in him. Skillfully handling the case, he turns an ordinary case into a high-profile trial accusing the prison authorities of cruelty and abuse of power, which became a catalyst for the softening of attitudes in American prisons, thanks to which Alcatraz was closed in 1963 and turned into a museum.
