4k movies reviews
Through what only trials did not go through everyone's favorite Brendan Fraser: in his life there was a broken back, and numerous failures of films, and harassment, and a huge number of personal failures, which led to a painful divorce, depression and a pile of debts. But he never stopped filming, stubbornly moving forward, never for a moment putting his hands down. Finding himself in the darkness, Brendan all looked for and searched for a ray of light in it. And this ray was a chamber drama by Daren Aronoffsky "The Whale", in which Fraser played exactly the same person who was at the bottom, but continues to look for the best in life. The movie did an incredible - resurrected, like a phoenix, an actor who gave a lot of childhood memories to each of us, for the return of which everyone hoped. Yes, and how resurrected: so amazingly performed role immediately made Brendan the main favorite of the Oscar race!

"The Whale" is the story of obese Charlie, long ago abandoned his wife and daughter Ellie for the sake of his lover, whose death turned Charlie into a recluse, not leaving the house, moving on which is given with great difficulty, and eating his grief junk food. When he finds himself on the brink of death, he decides to make amends with his daughter and mend his relationship with her.

Brendan Fraser does not play here, he lives! Dissolves in the character, showing just unprecedented game, which keeps the whole movie. This impossible role was as if created just for Fraser, playing the kindest man, able to see something beautiful even where no one sees it, awakening the good in people who, at first glance, it is not. Everything is beautiful in Brendan's game: his magnificent facial expressions, genuine emotions and, of course, these eyes filled with tears of happiness, radiating all the most wonderful things in Charlie. Only Brendan Fraser could make a seemingly pathetic and unpleasant character so charming inside and really bright, you just want to feel sorry for him and let him know that at least something in his life he did right. A terrific performance, for which you can at least give an Oscar in absentia!

The supporting actors are also on the level: very emotional Hong Chau, and very convincing Sadie Sink - in a word, the whole cast gave their best.

The movie is not only good for the actors - it has a delightful story. Each character is perfectly written and in the course of the movie appears in a new light, there is not a single superfluous scene, not a single unnecessary dialog. "The Whale" is a real emotional meat grinder, on which I, not the most impressionable person, so lump to the throat came up that it was difficult to breathe. There are rare funny moments that dilute the oppressive and heavy tone of the movie. The climax is simply gorgeous, and the ending is able to stay in the memory for a long time. It's a very touching story that takes place entirely in one location, but doesn't let you get bored for a moment, thanks to great dialog and a bunch of strong moments.

"The Whale" is a heartwarming movie that can melt the heart of even the most callous viewer and make you think about many things: about whether people deserve a chance for redemption, about honesty, about religion, about the fact that in our world there are no bad or good, that even behind the most seemingly terrible person is something good, just not everyone is able to see it.

I just want to say thank you to Daren Aronoffsky for bringing back Brendan Fraser, who is now back on the horse. Looking forward to the Oscars!
