Film Description
Going on vacation to a tropical island, a family with two children decides to follow the advice of the hotel manager and visit a beautiful secluded beach. In addition to them, other guests find themselves on the beach: a family with a small daughter, a middle-aged couple and a popular rapper. But soon the relaxed rest gives way to panic when the company discovers a corpse and notices that the children are suddenly growing up very quickly.

4k movies reviews
Shyamalan's films are always a mystery with a turning point in the finale. 'Sixth Sense' and 'Mysterious Forest' are excellent proofs of this. They don't stand on ceremony with the viewer, the guesses you build are not taken into account - think, think, guessing without knowing is quite difficult. At the same time, it is never clear what degree of mysticism awaits us this time - sometimes everything is explained in an incredible, but quite logical (in the laws of the film) way.

The plot is in the best canons of horror - the family comes to rest, the hotel manager whispers to them in confidence that there is a private beach, you are so cute that the bus will be at nine tomorrow, do not tell anyone, you will rest there alone. Another family is on the bus - and now adults and children cross the canyon, emerging on the white sand, bordered by palm trees and reefs. Everything is like a picture for advertising resorts.

The rest is quickly overshadowed by the found corpse of a drowned girl - a six-year-old son stumbles upon her in the water, and adults begin to try to resolve the situation. Minute hands count down half an hour, an hour, two - and a six-year-old son looks at twelve. The inexplicable hits the mind, giving out the most implausible explanations. Everything ceases to be random, becoming a distorted reality.

The camera spins around, picking out the pieces of the event. Once, twice, time will not go back, an adult daughter is singing, a son is taller than a father, and the finale is already approaching, so far away in ordinary life, because old age should not have come soon. Similar characteristics of the assembled people emerge - but this does not provide a clue. The absurdity of the situation is both funny and terrifying, the reaction to it comes out of the characters accordingly, they cling to basic concepts, try to control what is uncontrollable and has never been subject to them.

Shyamalan's films are quite distinctive. They look like deceptive shallow water, where you can splash, standing knee-deep, if you don't risk going deeper, think beyond what you have seen, try to imagine yourself as a rapidly growing child or aging adult. Something completely vague, unclear, leaving behind many questions for an inquiring mind.

But the most terrible thing here is the solution. Not for its originality, as in 'Mysterious Forest' or its turnover for the whole film, as in 'The Sixth Sense'. And with its cynicism, where everything that the dead deserve is a minute of silence.
