Dante Fontana is an Italian antique dealer who fulfills his old dream and goes to London for an auction. There he meets the Duchess, who invites him to visit her at the castle. Having experienced a series of adventures, Dante Fontana gets to know England from two sides: Victorian and modern.

The first directorial experience of the actor Alberto Sordi, who by that time had already become the star of "Italian comedy", did not turn out lumpy. Sordi coped well with staging a satirical comedy, in which he subtly ridiculed the British ideas about Italians, as well as the Italians' myths about the British.

Dante Fontata, an Italian antique dealer and an exemplary family man, travels to London to auction off a piece of Etruscan funerary decoration. As soon as he got on the plane, his friends started an argument: has Dante already changed or not?

Arriving in London, Fontana primarily buys a suit, tie, bowler hat, black shoes, white shirt, pipe and a large umbrella. A family of Italian tourists even want to take a picture with him, as with the classic average Londoner in their understanding. At the auction, Dante meets the duchess, who takes him for the nephew of her acquaintance, gives him the title of marquis and invites him to visit her castle. Fontana finds herself in an aristocratic society, "piercing" on trifles. For example, he does not know that men pour the evening port only themselves, passing the bottle to another in a clockwise direction. But soon the Italian will have a chance to see a modern, young, swinging London, which revolts against Victorian classics.

It turned out funny and comical, although in some places it was prolonged because of the desire to show more English beauties. Many of the shots look like postcards from a gift shop, but when the story accelerates, it's impossible to tear yourself away from the screen.
