In an alternate world history created by superheroes, the once-famous “costumed adventurers” have been banned by a society disillusioned by lynchings. Now, in 1985, the murder of Comic, a hero turned government agent, draws the attention of Rorschach, the last of the outlawed vigilantes. Rorschach's investigation brings his retired colleagues Night Owl, Silk Specter, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias into conflict with their pasts, each other and a secret that threatens their lives and a world on the brink of war.
