Film Description
Swimmer Haley has a bad day, first losing a split-second swim and then a Category 5 hurricane hits Florida. To make matters worse, her father isn't making contact, so Haley goes to an already evacuated area and finds him badly injured and unconscious in the basement of their old house. Trying to get her father out of the damp basement, the girl discovers that a huge, aggressive alligator is lodged here. The bad day goes on - the water is coming in, there's no help to be had, and the toothy reptile is ready to attack at any opportunity.

4k movies reviews
Hello to all cinemaholics and alligator lovers! I watched the thriller "The Trap" as part of the "Wild Nights" film festival. I will now share with you my impressions of the film I watched. The plot is about how during a violent hurricane in Florida, the main character named Hayley rushes to rescue her father, who arrives in the very epicenter of the natural disaster. Upon arrival, the girl finds her father in the basement unconscious. The heroine has to come up with a rescue plan, but the situation is greatly complicated when there is a massive flood, and with it come bloodthirsty alligators.

I will say at once: the movie more than lived up to my expectations. You could tell from the trailer that the movie is just another piece of crap with a weak plot and staging. In fact it turned out to be just the opposite. But let's talk about everything, in detail!

To begin with, I'd like to discuss Kai Scodelario's acting. For me, she has always been an under-actor. I have never liked and disliked the "oaky" acting of this actress. The exception is "Milk Suckers," but you can't go far on one good example. Now Kaya has grown up and began to pick up roles more serious. One of these was the heroine Hayley from "The Trap. With this picture Kaya rose sharply in my eyes. Here the actress has proved very expressive and even charismatic. In addition to Scodelario in the tape very well played the role of her father Barry Pepper. It is noteworthy that these two have already crossed over in the cinema - in the 2nd and 3rd parts of the "Labyrinth Runner.

There is enough good and dynamic action in the movie, that is why the spectator is constantly involved in the events and stays in suspense. The hour and a half of time flies by unnoticeably, and it is a pleasure to watch the heroine fighting the alligators.

The film, in a good way, resembles a mixture of "Alien", "Jaws" and partly "Jurassic Park". There is just as much blood and "meat". And instead of sharks, aliens or dinosaurs, there are alligators, which scare you with their unexpected appearances, and also make it very difficult for the hero to survive.

I expected total crap with special effects, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw quite realistic large reptiles, created from first-class graphics and instilling primal horror in the viewer.

The director skillfully operates with clichéd situations, brutalizing the conditions of survival: no one comes to help; the phone falls out of his pocket, then it is broken by an alligator; the basement begins to fill desperately with water; the rain, which was coming to the characters' rescue, suddenly stops dripping. All these unfortunate coincidences seem wildly unfair, but they add "hardcore" colors to the film and make it tougher, more intense and more original than other survival horror movies.

If there are clichés, then there are bloopers. For instance, the alligator bites the heroine's leg, tossing her from side to side. Then the reptile bites her arm. In real life, Hayley would pass out from painful shock, but not here. She doesn't even get worse. She only limps, but that doesn't stop her from running and swimming like a healthy person. Another quibble with the alligators, who are, well, overkillable. One character tried to stab a reptile with a metal shovel and it refused to die. Another tried to eliminate it with a firearm, a similar outcome. In life, I don't think it would take that much effort to do all of the above if you had a shovel or a gun at your fingertips.

To summarize. "The Trap" is, despite the presence of clichés and bloopers, a solid and self-assured thriller that is unequivocally worthy of the attention of all movie buffs. I truly enjoyed the film.
