4k movies reviews
Those who love classic science fiction should not watch this film: in fact, there is 'scientific' here in a military way within the required minimum, and even she briefly describes the so-called. 'the paradox of the time traveler' (and without fatal development). Fans of military fighters will also remain unhappy - there is little action, and in our 21st century it looks very poor. No coherent dramatic / melodramatic narrative line was found either ...

What is left? Actually, the plot that is given in the description of the film is quite enough to imagine the plot. He practically does not indulge in any surprises, and that 'zest' that is shown in the finale of the film will seem rather banal to a sophisticated viewer.

And yet I liked the movie! Something imperceptibly he recalled ... 'In the zone of special attention': the same uncomplicated plot and frank sincere admiration for the armed forces - we had the Airborne Forces, they have the Navy. And after all, which is characteristic, both of these films were shot at almost the same time. Let's remember - this is the height of the Cold War, but in The Final Countdown the Russians are given surprisingly little space, and the attitude towards them is shown to be very restrained: the Russian trawler almost accompanies the Nimitz on the campaign - and ... everything is fine, everyone is calm. The enemy in the film (Imperial Japan of 1941) is shown rather conventional, more precisely - historically conventional, and here, too, there is no fierce hatred, 'noble fury'.

Simply because the purpose of the film was to show the power of the Navy, the power of 'Nimitz', the professionalism and teamwork. And, in my opinion, the Americans did it for the top five: the aircraft carrier itself, its captain and the whole crew did not cause anything but sincere admiration, while the filmmakers did not need to enhance this impression with excessive aggressiveness.

Who will be interested in the film - note that the credits indicate military consultants, which was typical for Soviet films, but extremely unusual for American military fighters. And one more nuance: it seemed to me personally that the presence of a civilian 'systems analyst' on the ship, played by Charlie Sheen, by the way, was rather meaningless in the end: both the captain and the team coped with a very abnormal situation brilliantly, the captain took quick and very sensible decisions, not languishing in unnecessary 'philosophy'. Why improve something else?

Therefore, the film is recommended only for those who are not indifferent to the armed forces, military equipment and the Navy, in particular. And since I am one of those, -
