The Gold Rush 4K 1925
A lonely vagabond dreams of winning the heart of a beautiful dancer and sets off for the gold mines of Alaska, in Klondike, to get rich.
“The Gold Rush” confirmed Chaplin's belief that tragedy and comedy are part of a whole. This film was the most thoughtful of his career. For two weeks, the film crew shot on location in the Sierra Nevada, recreating the scene of gold prospectors crossing a mountain pass. More than 600 extras were involved in the film, many of whom were vagabonds. Filming then continued in Hollywood, where models of mountains were built. In the film, it is almost impossible to notice the transition from models to reality.
“The Gold Rush” is full of funny scenes that have become classics, such as the dance of the buns, the preparation and eating of his boot, and Chaplin's transformation into a big chicken in the eyes of the crazed Big Jim (Mac Swayne). Today, the film is considered one of Chaplin's best.
