Film Description
Ticks in this unpretentious "horror" are pronounced with an accent on the last syllable. Encephalitis mites, for example. Without wasting time thinking about the plot, reliability, drawing characters and other nonsense, the authors immediately take the bull by the tick. Here, these nasty, bloodthirsty insects grow to gigantic proportions and begin to eat everything, multiplying at a terrible speed.

4k movies reviews
The film hung on my hard drive - it's scary to say - for a year and a half. And still I could not click on it in the folder 'It is necessary to look', because I constantly forgot, and even there was no particular faith in the picture. It's just that a thin, thin line runs through the theme of killer animals and, accordingly, killer insects, separating really high-quality productions from cheap, vile trash. Nonetheless, when watching 'Ticks', there was a pleasant feeling that the film skillfully balances on this edge.

And the answer is simple - self-irony. No, the authors are not joking at every step, but nevertheless they realize that they have 1) Horror about insects and 2) Horror about insects for video. That is why Tony Randall did not build something monumental out of the picture, but simply removed an unpretentious movie of ticks mutated under the influence of plant steroids, and a group of teenagers who went to a forest camp, who fell under the distribution.

The teenagers are played, as usual, by unknown (with the exception of Seth Green) but rather talented actors. The adults also played well, except that two villainous marijuana growers who tried to scare the hapless youth away from their plantations let them down with a caricature game.

But the main aspect of the film is, you guessed it, not teenagers, but ticks. Big, nasty and nimble, they are well made for a small budget. They also become the source of several bloody and disgusting scenes in an amicable way, so in this regard, the picture is doing well. But what is missing is nudity, she would have raised the final grade and ... something else. Music, by the way, is also a little, the one that is - somehow I did not remember. Is that a light pleasant song in the finale, just before the credits.

This ending, by the way, hints at a sequel (of course!), But it did not follow. Randall continued the topic of ticks only in a short short film, but in my opinion, a sequel was not needed here. It's just that 'Ticks' is quite bright, but purely one-time entertainment, which knows how not to take itself too seriously. Of course, there are some drawbacks, but in general the picture is quite easy to watch and moderately interesting.
