4k movies reviews
In the early 1960s, Elvis Presley, the King of Rock 'n' Roll, who had returned from the army, left the stage for a while, devoting his free time to making movies. It is true that we cannot speak of any artistic value of these pictures (for they were all made for the sake of making money). But if we were to choose among the most worthy of the attention of modern viewers, I would include "Blue Hawaii" (1961) to the list of such films.

The box-office failures of "Blazing Star" and "Lonely Man" proved that it was not profitable to make musical dramas with Elvis. So once again a course was taken toward light comedy-musicals like "Soldier's Blues" (the first after the army). Rejected by Twentieth Century Fox, Elvis's manager "Colonel" Parker again contacted producer Hal Wallace and director Norman Taurog (with whom Elvis had found common ground on the set of "Soldier Blues"). The result was one of the most striking films with Presley's participation, the action unfolding in Hawaii.

The protagonist of the film is Chad Gates (Elvis Presley), returning from the army, who is trying to find his place in the sun. This leads to a conflict between the young man and his parents (as Chad does not want to take part in the family business), but the light atmosphere of the film brightens up even the most unexpected conflict situations. And when you look at Elvis, you get a feeling that he likes to fool around in the frame singing light pop songs (or, at least, it is not a drag). Perhaps, this is also the reason why the movie leaves a pleasant impression (since the actor feels like a fish in water in the film).

Otherwise, the film has more pluses than minuses. There are exotic places, beautiful women surrounding Elvis, and beautiful songs. Speaking of songs. The soundtrack album Blue Hawaii is one of the best-selling Elvis albums of the 60s (which hints at the fact that not all the songs there are ephemeral). For example, the movie will have cover versions of Bing Crosby's hits, Neapolitan and Hawaiian songs, as well as one of Presley's most famous hits - "Can`t Help Falling In Love".

I would like to add to this that "Blue Hawaii" may be a one-day movie, but to me it is one of Elvis' best works in cinema in the sixties.
