What natural disasters haven't been used in Hollywood disaster movies: typhoons, tsunamis, global warming, earthquakes, meteorite strikes, and so on and so forth. Volcanic eruptions have not been spared either. The plot of this film unfolds in a small mountain town, where a volcanologist predicts the imminent end of the world, but no one believes him except the female mayor, who is in love with the charismatic alarmist, played well by Pierce Brosnan.
