The Fall 4K 2006
When you're sad, you compose. All the storytellers in the world must have been terribly unhappy people. “My story can't have a happy ending,” says Roy.
Roy is going through a life drama, he is lying in a hospital and composes a story out of nothing to do, telling it to a girl who comes to him from the next room.
Thug Black Bandit, escaped African slave Otha Benga, Indian sage, Italian revolutionary Luihi and naturalist Charles Darwin are the heroes of his tales...
The movie starts as a children's movie and ends as a children's movie. And in the middle is the pain of the storyteller, who wages his mental anguish on his heroes, making them suffer and die (beautifully).
We ourselves are the heroes of our own fairy tales, and our reality is not much different from fiction. We make up stories about ourselves, and happiness when there are those who want to hear us and walk beside us.
-Why does everyone in your story die. Why?
-Because it's MY story.
-AND MINE TOO!
The movie is beautiful. It's calendar, poster-quality beautiful. The rest of it will slip your mind the day after tomorrow. And the bloody flags, the butterfly island and the shooting of Charles Darwin will stay in your head!
