Mike Enslin is a writer who specializes in all kinds of paranormal phenomena, ghosts, and mysterious events. Enslin writes books about all this stuff and makes good money from them. However, in reality, Mike is a man who has experienced the depths of disappointment. The writer is disappointed that he has never actually encountered anything mysterious or inexplicable. Enslin has decided for himself that ghosts and the afterlife do not exist, and this fact weighs heavily on him. Once, Mike learned that there is a room 1408 (the sum of the digits gives the number 13) in the New York hotel “Dolphin”, which has not been occupied by any guests for a long time, because this room is associated with all kinds of bloody stories: suicides, murders, and so on. There have been a total of 56 deaths in the room since 1912. Mike was impressed by this information, but it did not deter him from his desire to stay in the mysterious room at all costs.
