Memoirs of a Geisha 4K 2005

A poor Japanese family gives away—or, more accurately, sells—their nine-year-old daughter from a fishing village to be raised and serve in a geisha house. Over the years, the girl will grow into a true beauty, be given the name Sayuri, learn all the secrets of the geisha profession, and enjoy incredible popularity among the city’s most influential men. In the hearts of the geisha house’s queens, such beauty and skill in entertaining men arouse envy. It is not easy to endure the hostility of the famous geisha Hatsumoto. But in Sayuri’s heart lives a love for a man she met when she was a little girl. She has been unable to forget that encounter ever since. A geisha must not fall in love. How can she protect herself?
Sayuri must survive World War II, find her love, and lose him once again.
A beautiful, emotional film, though shot in the American style and, for some reason, with Chinese actresses in all the leading roles.
