Marie Antoinette 4K 2006

A loose adaptation of the life story of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France. The heiress to the Austrian throne was married to the French Dauphin in order to strengthen ties between the two powers. As a fourteen-year-old teenager, Marie Antoinette arrives in Paris and becomes a prisoner of the stuffy, highly regimented royal life. Her husband, who soon becomes King Louis XVI—still a boy himself—pays her no attention, preferring hunting and other pastimes. As a result, the young woman is swept up in a whirlwind of unbridled consumption: luxurious dresses, glamorous parties, exquisite feasts, and diamonds.
