The events unfold in a future world that has undergone devastating climate change. The government strictly controls resources, so every couple who wants to have a child must undergo testing. Mia and Aaryan have submitted an application that will allow them to become parents: despite their excitement, they believe they are ready to take such a responsible step. The couple is visited by assessor Virginia, who has seven days to study Mia and Aaryan's life in order to approve or reject their application. But her tests turn out to be surprisingly shocking and soon become a psychological nightmare for the couple.
