Jeanne Vaubernier, a woman from a lower class, is lifted out of poverty through feminine charms. Her patron, Count Dubarry, who has become rich through Jeanne's love affairs, wants to introduce her to the King and arranges a meeting through the powerful Duc de Richelieu. The meeting goes far beyond his expectations - Jeanne falls in love with Louis XV at first sight with her directness.
