1959, Paris. The New Wave had already swept through the world of cinema. Claude Chabrol had already made two films, and François Truffaut was being hailed at Cannes. And yet Jean-Luc Godard—whom everyone, or at least he himself, considered a genius—had only a couple of short films to his credit. Finally, Godard decides he’s ready and secures a small amount of money from a friendly producer for a film based on a crime news clipping. The director’s friend Jean-Paul Belmondo agrees to play a con artist on the run, and rising American star Jean Seberg is cast as his unreliable girlfriend. The romantic and ironic journey of "Breathless" begins.
