Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has reached the age of forty and has never driven a car or had sex. Andy works in an electronics store and collects comic book figures in his spare time.
One day, his coworkers find out that Andy is a virgin and decide to do whatever it takes to change this terrible situation. They try to get him drunk at a seedy bar and call a prostitute for him, but Andy continues to dream of his ideal woman. And then she appears. His friends rub their hands together—Andy has finally fallen for someone. Of course, this woman, Trish, has three children, but who cares...
Despite the risqué subject matter and a bunch of jokes that border on the offensive, the comedy refrains from descending into vulgarity.
