Over the past 8 years, more than 200 editors of this remarkable document have discovered that nearly half of the species named in the past 250 years have been duplicates. So, 190,400 names, in some form of duplication, have been crossed out. One snail species was duplicated 119 times. The intention is to have a single reliable record. After this careful analysis of 419,000 species records and the removal of duplicates, with greater certainty, scientists on the World Register of Marine Species (abbreviated WoRMS in English) can say today that the seas of the planet are They found 228,450 species of all species. New additions to the book's marine life include 122 sharks and rays, 131 new members of the goby family and 1 new barracuda found in the well known waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
